There’s a lot that goes into throwing a party for one of your kids. You need to get a guest list together, order food, find a location for the party, and find a way to entertain a bunch of kids. While this article won’t cover every aspect of a kid’s birthday party, it will hopefully at least help you out with the party favors. Party favors are great for children of any age, but are a particularly good idea for younger children. Below are some ideas to get you started, most of which can be done on a budget.
A great souvenir for guests to take home is a picture from the event. But rather than whipping out your cell phone and snapping some quick pictures, you can take it up a notch. One thing you could do is buy an instant print camera, which allows you to snap a photo and print out a physical copy right away – much like the old Polaroid cameras used to do. Or you could rent a photo-booth for the event, and allow guests to go in and take their own silly pictures.
Finally, you could purchase some props – like masks, costumes, etc – and have everyone dress up in their pictures. Pictures are a great way to remember an event, especially when you put a little bit of effort into them.
Have T-shirts Made
Everyone loves to get a free t-shirt, so why not make some custom ones and hand them out at the party? You could get them in a color that matches your party’s theme, and add the date and event name right on the shirt. Now each kid can go home with a new t-shirt, and every time they wear it they’ll remember the party.
There are plenty of ways to make custom t-shirts. You can iron them on yourself if you purchase the right materials, work with a local sporting goods company, or look into different screen printing options (you can try that link if you’re in the Atlanta area). The method you choose will essentially depend on how much work you want to do yourself, and how much you want to spend. Remember to order a few extra shirts in each size, just in case the size you get for some kids don’t fit.
Candy and Toys
What kid doesn’t enjoy some free candy or toys? This is an easy one – all you have to do is buy some bags, pick up some assorted candies, and few small toys, and split them all into the bags. If the party has a theme, you could get toys that go along with it. For instance, if your child is have a pirate themed party, some water guns would be nice party favors. Party favors don’t have to be crazy complicated or expensive – some small toys and candy is usually enough to please young children.
Custom Cups or Plates
Finally, you could have some custom plates or cups made up, and give them to all of the guests. While not the most “fun” party favor, it’s still a nice gift and will allow guests to relive the party whenever they use them. Custom cups and plates are also great if your child is on the older side, and giving away toys wouldn’t really make sense. Before you go and place your order, it’s a good idea to have the rest of the party planned out. If there is a theme or color scheme, you’ll want your custom gifts to match it. Also consider having a fun logo designed that can go along with the party and appear on the cups and plates.
Think Outside The Box
The best party favors are the ones that are unique, and let guests bring a little bit of the party fun home with them. Sites like Pinterest are great for finding party favor ideas, so take some time to browse through and see what you find. Be sure to give yourself enough time to either make or order the party favors however, and don’t wait until the last minute. Keep party favors in mind while you are planning the party, and by the time the party arrives, you’ll have a nice gift all ready to go for all of your kid’s friends.
