My friend Cheryl told me that the Contry Hill Farm, the horse farm where she rides, was having a one-day winter horse camp for kids. Her 11 year old son, Alex, likes to ride horses. Ryan (12) has been riding here with Alex on a couple of occasions. They went to the summer camp together two summers ago.
The funny thing is, there aren’t lots of boys that like to ride horses! It seems to be such a girl thing to do – at this barn anyway. That’s why these boys stick together – and neither would have gone to this winter camp if they were going to be the “only boy there”.
At the end of the day, Emily, the manager/instructor, suggested a boys’ only Sunday morning lesson. The boys liked that idea!
Here is Ryan riding China.
Alex is riding Bravo. The two token boys are sticking together!
Alex was taking care of Bravo.
Here’s a pretty pony getting his hoofs cleaned by one of the many girls that attended.
Ryan had fun. His favorite part was riding his horse through the obstacle courses. Here’s China back in her stall.
I think it’s a great way to spend the first day of February vacation.
The rest of the week is full of medical tests – a swallow eval. for James, a mammogram for me and a colonoscopy for Grant! Booooooo – not the most fun, I know, but I will be glad to get these tests over with!
