Before my kitchen was remodeled, I used to keep my spices in a cabinet. It was very unorganized. In fact, I used to pull most of them out of the cabinet just to find the one spice that I was looking for. My sister-in-law had a drawer for her spices. She would pull open the drawer and bingo, there was the chili powder – no rummaging and pulling spices out required! I was so envious of that! That’s what I wanted in a new kitchen – a nice big drawer for my spices.
Well, I am happy to say that I did get my drawer for my spices. Here it is.
There is hope for my unorganized drawers! I had the opportunity to review two YouCopia kitchen organizational products – the SpiceLiner and the StoraStack.
The SpiceLiner is actually just what this drawer needs. I received a six pack of SpiceLiners. Here is how they look in the drawer. Each one measures 18″ long, so they are a great fit. These can also easily be cut to size to fit smaller drawers.
So, I figured I would organize my spices by popularity. It seems I am always making some sort of Mexican dish, so I placed the cumin, chili powder, crushed red pepper all in the first row. Now when I reach for these popular spices, I know they are all in the first row and thanks to the SpiceLiner, the names should all be facing up (provided I put them back that way). Here is how my drawer looks with the six SpiceLiners.

StoraStack for Drawers Review
The StoraStack for Drawers is something else that I really needed. Here is how my drawer looked before.
See my little bin of lids. It is not ideal, I know, but I am trying to be organized. Grant keeps telling me to just throw out the odd size plastic containers and lids and stick with one size. Well, that is the key with the the StoraStack for Drawers. It is meant to store two types of containers, and each type should be the same size/brand. Here it is in use.
The StoraStack extends to fit inside standard-size drawers. The gray portion of the base shown above right extends to fit the drawer. There are two clip dispensers that are used to hold the containers in place. The containers that I am using are Rubbermaid containers. I have plenty of space left for more containers and lids – 2 large and 4 small. This will store 12 containers and lids. I plan on buying more of the Rubbermaid containers and getting rid of the odd size containers. No more searching through my lid bin for the right lid! No more searching for two or three containers of the same size! It feels good to be getting more organized.
Now, here’s a cool idea, why not sell this StoraStack with the 12 containers?
