You can save lots of money on clothes for the family by shopping the thrift stores. It helps by donating to a charitable organization and recycling goods that may otherwise end up in land fills. When he was younger, James was lucky enough to receive hand me downs from a family friend.I miss those days!
I haven’t been to the thrift stores in a while, but I do enjoy hunting for those great bargains. I have a few Thrift store finds to share with you today! We all had the day off from school on Monday so I took the boys shopping at Good Will in Amherst, NH.
James had this Marching Band banquet a couple of months ago I didn’t have a suit for him. He wore one of my Dad’s tweed jackets with a pair of dress pants. He looked fine, but I wish he had a suit to wear. I was going to pick one up at Khol’s, but Grant made a good point. Why spend the money on a new suit when he will outgrow it in a year or two? He is only 14 and is already 5’11”.
So, I am pleased to say that I found him this suit and I paid $10 for it. What do you think? I like it. My mother-in-law could lengthen the hem on the pants if/when necessary. (Thanks Meme!) It has been my experience that Thrift Stores always have a pretty large selection of suit jackets and if you are lucky enough, you can find a decent suit.
This next navy pin stripe suit jacket had a grey tag on it. Grey tag items were just $1! I thought he could wear this with khaki pants, navy or even jeans. The pin stripes are different colors so it could work well with different pants.
This suit jacket was also just $1.
…..and it’s cashmere no less.
These ClayBrooke leather Oxford shoes for Ryan were $8.
These Scene It DVD games were just $1 each – just $4 for 4 games! Ryan loves Scene It games and paid for these himself. The cards are missing from the Sports Edition, but otherwise all game pieces/cards are accounted for in the other games. The store had the boxes taped shut or else we would have checked. So, we lost our buck the Sports game.
James is in a lip sync contest at school on Thursday. He is doing a Back-Street Boys song with his friends. Does this look 80ies? or maybe more 50ies? Not sure, but for $3.00 for both the jacket and hat, he will make it work! The hat is plastic. 🙂
What are some of your great Thrift Store finds?
