Sunday was a busy day for us. As you may know, my son James is in the marching band. It can be expensive to participate – especially when they are planning a trip to Disney World in December. (And YES, he is going – so time to start saving!) This is why they give the band members and their parents plenty of fundraising opportunities to earn money for their marching band bank accounts for expenses like this.
We signed up to sell concessions at the showing of the play The Spelling Bee at the local community college. This is our second time selling at a play like this. We sold $205 worth of candy and drinks before the show and during intermission. I figure James will get about half of that in his account – not bad for an afternoon’s work. Here is a photo of the first time that we sold concessions. Doesn’t Ryan looked thrilled? 😉
Since we committed our afternoon to selling candy, we thought it would be a nice treat to hit McDonald’s before heading over to the college. This was the perfect opportunity for Grant and I to try the new Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Because I am always thinking of you guys that are kind enough to visit my blog, Yes! I am hosting another McDonald’s gift card giveaway right here. One Moms Own Words reader will win a $25 gift card (arch card) to try out the new Artisan Grilled Chicken sandwich for yourself! (Thanks McDonald’s!)
The Artisan Grilled Chicken sandwich is made with 100% white meat chicken breast filet, seasoned with simple spices and herbs like salt, garlic and parsley. The sandwich arrived on a lightly toasted roll with lettuce and tomato. The sandwich had a light vinaigrette dressing on one side of the bun that added a nice flavor.
This new 100% white meat chicken fillet will now be used in McDonald’s Deluxe Chicken Sandwiches, Premium McWraps, Snack Wraps and Premium Salads. According to McDonald’s, this juicy chicken filet has no artifical flavors, colors, or preservatives.
The chicken was moist and delicious. The vinaigrette dressing had a nice flavor. According to the nutritional stats. this sandwich is 360 calories, which is isn’t over the top for a filling lunch. It costs a bit more calories when you add a medium French Fry like I did – but hey, once in a while, those McDonald’s French Fries are so worth those extra calories. (We all jogged a couple miles this morning as a family, so that helped to balance things out.)
Grant enjoyed his lunch too. Just look at that smile and nearly devoured sandwich. Just the day before, he got second place in his age group at a 5K. He took his trophy to work this morning, saying that I would consider it “clutter”. Well, when you leave it out on the kitchen counter like that…….
We would definitely order the Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich again as it looks to be a regular item on the McDonald’s menu and cause we’re “lovin it!”
