My parents just had their 50th (golden) wedding anniversary. Can you believe it? That’s a half century of marriage which is an amazing accomplishment in this day and age.
We took them to the Woodbound Inn in Rindge, NH. If you are a regular reader here, you might remember I did a review of the Woodbound Inn. Grant and I had a great dinner there earlier this year and we thought this would be a perfect spot to celebrate my Mom and Dad’s anniversary.
In the above photo, that’s my brother and his wife Chin in the front. Ryan and I were seated next to the guests of honor in the center of the table. My sister Steph, her son Oliver and her husband Nathan are next to my Mom. Across from them is Nathan’s parents Linda and Phil who are seated on the same side as my Dad. That’s pretty much our whole family – except Grant who took the picture and James who was at a marching band performance that evening and couldn’t be with us.
Our dinners were very good – prime rib, shrimp scampi, baked haddock are just a few of the dishes that we had. Here is the cake we all enjoyed after dinner. I have to laugh because I was told by one of the employees a few weeks ago that the restaurant had a “bakery” and could make us a cake for the occasion. When I read this (via email) I thought she meant that they had a bakery on site at the Inn an their world-renowned pastry chef(s) would make this gorgeous custom cake for the occasion.
This cake was not made on site. It actually came from the grocery store down the road. Our waiter brought the box over to take it home and there was a label with Market Basket $14.99 on it plain as day. Oh well, they had us fooled until they brought that box over. My brother even commented that it was much better than the average “Market Basket” cake. Surprise John! Market Basket must have a new recipe. 😉
Trip to Italy
For their anniversary, my parents are taking a vacation to Italy. They are self employed and don’t travel as often as they’d like. This trip has been in the works for long time and they are both looking forward to it very much.
I recently featured a Minted.com $50 gift card giveaway this past month. This was my first experience with Minted.com. In case you missed it, Minted.com crowd-sources design and art from a global community of independent designers and artists, then sells their best designs as fine products such as stationery, wall art, and décor for the home, holidays, and occasions. While I was browsing their site, I came across this really interesting print.
This is a photo by Imelda Sherlock. It is called The Floating City. She took this while visiting the wonderful city of Venice in Italy. According to Imelda, “The region is famous for being built on a lagoon with most of the roads and paths surrounded by water. I felt this photograph captured the beauty and romance of its setting.”
So, do you see where I am going with this? My parents are going to Italy for their wedding anniversary. I thought, this would make a lovely gift!
My father owns a custom framing shop also. Maybe you remember the radio commercial I recorded for his business? Anyway, he has framed artwork for Fortune 500 Corporations, artists, photographers and interior design professionals. He has provided design and framing services since 1969 for a wide range of museums, industries, institutions and local families. He loves all types of art work and can appreciate quality framing.
Minted.com Floating City Print Review
For this print, I selected the 16 x 16 size. I ordered museum quality framing with a handcrafted frame that is made from wood that was reclaimed from old barns. I love the rustic look of the old barn board. It goes well with the old buildings on the lagoon in this beautiful print.
I printed out the information from Minted.com, so that he would know the story behind the print and the frame. I also added a little Happy Anniversary note from all of us.
The restaurant must be in the process of redecorating because there were a few empty hooks on the wall. So, we hung the print up of course! I’m sure they wish we left the print there – on their bare walls.
The starting price for this print is $22 unframed. Prices increase when selecting frames and framing materials. This print is available in 6 different sizes. Please visit Minted.com to order.
Congratulations to you Mom and Dad! Wishing you many, many more years of happiness.
