Hello and happy Friday!
You might have noticed that my blog was out of commission since Monday. That issue that I had two weeks ago came back to rear its ugly head. My blog was acting very flaky – as in I couldn’t use my editor properly, toggle switches were not working. I couldn’t add pictures or text links. That is why I wasn’t blogging!
That was only part of it. Google was sending up that “Reported Attack Site! Malware!” warning. That means that a malicious code was discovered when Google scanned my site. Let me tell you, not many people decided to click through and try their luck. If you did, thank you – there was no malicious code.
It’s all I could think about last week. I have been on a five to six day posting schedule and to miss four days was painful for me. So not only couldn’t I post, but I couldn’t ethically send anyone over to check out my giveaways. (Although I did yesterday when I thought I was in the clear!)
There’s been a lot of online chatter about Go Daddy lately. They of course aired that awful Super Bowl commercial of the “geek” making out with a beautiful girl. What was the point that? If it was meant to elicit disgust, it worked.
Even the prior elephant incident made me cringe, but it wasn’t enough to get me to move.
The founder and members of the Boston Parent Bloggers thoughtfully sent out Facebook messages warning about Go Daddy’s all-around poor reputation. These were all little red flags that were being raised for me – but I just kept humming along. Not me. Not my site. Busy. Busy. Busy. Gotta write that next post.
Guess who just transferred from Go Daddy in the most painful way? Yours truly. I couldn’t have done it without this guy.
I called Go Daddy for help on several occasions. One rep. said, “Everything looks fine on our end. Your site looks good! I could go for one of those chocolate cupcakes!”
When I called my new host they immediately ran a scan, sent me report tickets, and resubmitted my site to Google for me. I even have my own account manager now! (I don’t want to ever have to call him, but glad to know he’s there.)
So, it looks like I am back online, no malware warnings. The site is clean and ready for posting.
Thanks for your patience!
