Wholly Guacamole and Daily’s Cocktails Review
We just had a blizzard that started on Friday, 2/8 and ended about noontime on 2/9. So, as the wind howled and snow just kept falling that evening, I decided that was the perfect night for a family movie. To me, a snowy night goes well with a family movie night, kind of like guacamole goes well with a frosty cocktail.
We decided on the family-friendly movie – The Odd Life of Timothy Green. This movie came out in 2012, and I am not sure it’s nominated for any of the 85th Academy Awards, however, according to my quick search, it was nominated for a couple of awards at the Phoenix Film Critics Society Awards.
I picked up the Classic Wholly Guacamole at BJ’s a couple of weeks ago for one of the playoff games. I love it! I knew that much going into this taste test – but hadn’t yet tried any of the salsas or the other guacamole flavors. We tried the Wholly Guacamole Home Style, with chunks of tomato, onion and peppers. That was delicious – just like the classic, only with added chunks of veggies. The words fresh and healthy come to mind!
Spoiler alert! Surprisingly, it was the Spicy Wholly Guacamole that is my new favorite! It has just the right amount of heat – not too overpowering for me. Grant loved this one too. Even though Ryan likes some spicy things, as you can see, he wasn’t able to take the heat. 
The Guacamole and Spicy Pico Wholly Salsa was fresh and tasty, but we prefer our guacamole separate from our salsa. Here is how that Wholly Salsa looked.
Next, we sampled the Red Pepper Mango Wholly Salsa. This salsa is tangy and sweet, not spicy at all. It’s full of mango chunks and fresh ingredients. Anyone who loves a sweet salsa, will love this one, but it was too sweet for us. It actually does contain added sugar.
Our favorite Wholly Salsa is the Classic Medium. I was reminded of the authentic salsas that I’ve had at good Mexican restaurants. This looked fresh and healthy. The medium was not too spicy for me. I’ve had medium salsas in the past and they were too overpowering.
Here I am taking notes on our findings. Don’t mind the mess around me, I am very focused on the task at hand.
Nothing goes better with these Wholly Guacamole and Salsa products than a Daily’s Cocktail. I tried the Pina Colada this time and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a sweet combination of coconut and pineapple. I love how easy these drinks are to serve – just freeze, squeeze and enjoy. Pina Colada fans are going to love Daily’s version of this popular cocktail!
As for the movie, I really enjoyed it. This funny story became a tear jerker at the end, but it was very good. The lesson that Timothy taught his parents in the short time he was with them is that parents may not be perfect, but with the basics of love and kindness, they will make it through the process of raising their kids. I thought CJ Adams played the character of Timothy Green perfectly. He is adorable in this movie. Grant enjoyed the movie too. As for the boys, Ryan thought is was good but sad and James thought it was “weird”. This is coming from an 11 year old. Enough said.
