CalNaturale wine is made with 100 percent organically grown grapes and packaged in a convenient and environmentally friendly Tetra Pak carton, which has half the carbon footprint of a glass bottle. I received the Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon for this review and one Moms Own Words reader will win two 500 ml containers of CalNaturale wine!
CalNaturale Wine Review
My friend Kathy came over after watching the boys play basketball last Saturday. It was the perfect opportunity to sample some wine with some guacamole and tortilla chips. We tried the CalNaturale Chardonnay. I found it to be crisp with a nice flavor and she liked it too. (We are not wine snobs!)
The wine is made with certified organically grown grapes, but it is not an organic wine and therefore contains sulfites. (Sodium sulfite is a chemical that is naturally present and/or used in food processing as a preservative and sanitizing agent.)
About CalNaturale Wines
CalNaturale Cabernet Sauvignon is a voluptuous and full-bodied, yet very approachable, wine that bears a single-vineyard designation from the highly acclaimed French Camp Vineyard in the Paso Robles Appellation and delivers rich and intriguing flavors of berry fruits and the intense aromas of spicy black currants with a hint of French oak.
CalNaturale Chardonnay is cultivated in Mendocino County and is clear and vibrant with a hint of vanilla from lightly toasted oak; shows fruit to the very end with refreshing flavors of ripe apples, pear and a hint of citrus.
Both wines have received numerous awards – the 2008 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon recently won back-to-back gold medals at two leading international wine competitions; the 2011 Florida State Fair Wine Competition and the 2011 Monterrey Wine Competition. In addition the Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded a bronze medal at the prestigious International Wine Challenge in London and the Chardonnay picked up silver at the 2011 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.
Buy It
Both CalNaturale Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are available in two sizes, 500 ML and 1 liter Tetra Pak cartons, and are offered at: $6.99 and $12.99, respectively.
Both varietals are available in leading wine shops, grocery and natural food stores, including H.E.B, Publix and Whole Foods Markets in selected regions across the country.
