Glass Dharma Glass Straw Review

I am impressed with the variety and quality of straws that I received from Glass Dharma. They have straws for use with different drinks. For example,  12 mm diameter straw is recommended for smoothies because it is a bit larger than the 9.5 mm diameter red dot straw that is recommended for drinks like ice tea. I also received a 9.5 mm diameter straw with a slight bend for (in my opinion) a more “relaxed” drinking experience. The 7 mm amber straw is called the “sipper” and would be ideal for a Cosmo or Margarita or a hot drink like a latte.

What perfect timing for us to evaluate these straws, because Ryan just received an icy treats maker for frosty drinks and snow cones for Christmas.  We love using and drinking our creations with these glass straws. James is using the 9.5 mm straw with bend for his frosty drink.

Ryan loves the amber colored dots on his sipper.

I am fond of the red dot (decorative dots series). It makes the drinking experience a little more special, like using a favorite  mug or glass.  Two of the four glass straws came with a cleaning brush, which made cleaning these a snap! straws3

I typically buy a couple of packs of straws a year. I never considered the possibility of toxins leeching from the plastic into our drinks, and I definitely never considered that I was filling up the landfills, because, after all,  it’s only a couple of packages a year.

However, looking at the big picture, and considering all the straws that go out daily from all of the fast food places, that’s a lot of plastic in our landfills. Using an elegant glass straw that is guaranteed for life (Glass Dharma provides a lifetime guarantee against breakage) and provides a solution to plastic waste and potential toxins, it’s just a no-brainer!

I use straws for almost everything I drink. I usually carry an insulated straw cup of water with me everywhere. My kids always use straws for soda and anything else corrosive, so that it bypasses their teeth as much as possible. And for milkshakes. Also for hot drinks, since the temp at the bottom is slightly lower than the temp at the top. We go through a LOT of disposable straws in our house. It would be nice to have an alternative!

  2. DeAnn S says

I use straws with instant breakfast in the morning and then a straw for a mocha coffee in the afternoon. Would love to try these straws.

  3. Holly C says

I use straws every day and multiple times throughout the day. I use them for water, smoothies, juice, sodas…. anything and everything cold!

  4. Jill A. Collins says

We use straws occassionaly, mostly for our specialty drinks like frozen mixed drinks or smoothies.

  5. Anne W. says

I use straws when I drink my protein shake in the morning because I don’t like how it makes my lips feel dry.

  6. says

I use straws more frequently now. I’d like to have a more rigid straw like this. My 3 yr old likes to chew his straws then get frustrated when he can’t get his drink through the straw

  7. Stephanie says

I really don’t care for straws unless getting it at a local fast food restaurant heh. But hubster and our girls love it! Every drink they must have a straw so we stack up on it quite alot. Those colorful bendy straws that we get from Stop n Shop.

  8. Monique says

My daughters use glass straws in every thing they drink. I don’t use a straw too often but feel awful every time I’m given a plastic one.

  9. Alison Jones says

We use them for milkshakes. I would use them for tea, but only this one! can’t stand disposables.

  10. Jim Lipscomb says

W usually only use straws with drinks from fast food and the little straws with juice boxes.

  11. Priscilla Benavides says

We don’t use them that often but I would love these for entertaining!

  12. Jean F. says

My kids love a hand-blended milkshake for dessert and we use straws with these about every other day. I like to use straws with tea and other “staining” beverages to try to spare my teeth!

  13. Aneesa says

We don’t use them very often although we have recently incorporated green juice fasts into our lives and so these straws would be perfect!

  14. Karen D says

I don’t usually use straws, as I don’t like buying the plastic ones…but if I had one of these…

  15. Michelle Tucker says

We use them for everything we drink. Hubby can’t drink anything without a straw due to very sensitive teeth.

  16. Candice Hull says

We use straws for every drink except for water. I have very sensitive and cavity prone teeth, so I keep liquids off of them as much as possible
    thank you
