Just last month, Ninja Kitchen released the Ninja Cooking System! This slow-cooker type cooking system features fast one pot meal making, steam roasting & baking, searing AND slow cooking all in one pot! I recently received the Ninja Cooking System featured in this review and one Moms Own Words reader will win their very own Ninja Cooking System!
Ninja Cooking System Slow Cooker Review
The Ninja Cooking System includes a small Ninja cookbook, the Ninja roasting rack, used for steam roasting or steam baking and a multi-purpose baking pan, used for baking cakes, casseroles, meats or poultry. I haven’t used either with the system yet.
Out of the box, I rinsed the light-weight, non-stick insert and lid with soapy water and I was ready to get started. Since receiving the Ninja Cooking system, just four days ago, I’ve already made three one pot meals.
I made a recipe called Slow Cooker Tamale Pie. I used the stove top setting on high to brown my ground turkey. I drained the turkey, dumped in the rest of the ingredients and used the slow cooker setting on low for six hours. Next, I mixed up a corn bread mix and spooned that on top and turned the slow cooker setting to high. This meal was literally made in this one pot cooking system. It was so simple and no extra frying pan to clean!
I made a similar one pot meal – ground chicken chili using the Ninja. (Can you tell we like Mexican fare around here?) Again, I used the stove top setting on high to brown some ground chicken. I removed the chicken and sauteed my vegetables. Next, I used the slow cooker setting on low for six hours. This chili came out great, if i do say so! Again, I used the Ninja for browning, sauteing, and slow cooking – love that!
I’ve saved the fastest and easiest of the three one pot meals for last – spaghetti and meatballs. Here’s what I needed: 4 cups of water, 1 pound of spaghetti, 1 28 oz. jar of pasta sauce and 1 package (24 ounces) frozen meatballs. Here’s what I did: Pour the water into the pot. Stir in spaghetti (broken in half to fit in pot) sauce and meatballs. I used the oven setting at 300 degrees F for 25 minutes. I actually used more meatballs than the recipe called for, so I cooked for an extra 10 minutes or so at that setting. I took the cover off and was pretty amazed to see everything looking so good. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly. It was delicious. No extra pot for cooking the spaghetti needed – just put in the ingredients, set it and forget it.
Apparently, I haven’t even scratched the surface of what this amazing cooking system can do. I know the days of searing pot roasts and browning meats in separate pans are over. I look forward to trying steam infused roasting and baking. According to the recipe booklet, steam infused roasting will result in faster cooking times and juicier meats. Steam infused baking will result in moist and (dare I say) healthier desserts. Steam baking only requires HALF the fat of traditional baking.
Before receiving the Ninja Cooking system, I already loved using my slow cooker and easy one pot meals. My old slow cooker has since disappeared into storage and my new Ninja Cooking system gets permanent placement on my counter top. I am all about easy, healthy cooking that requires less prep and less clean up time. It suits me to a T. I am so impressed with it and look forward to using it again and again.
