Only at BJ’s The Cake Boss Da Bomb Cake Review

BJ’s Wholesale Club teamed up with Buddy Valastro – the “Cake Boss” and owner of famous Carlo’s Bake Shop in Hoboken, N.J. — to carry three cakes that are available at all 195 BJ’s clubs in the 15 states where they are located. We sampled Valastro’s personal creation at BJ’s Fresh Bakery are called “Da Bomb,” a cake made with chocolate layers and caramel icing.

BJ’s The Cake Boss Da Bomb Cake Review

We took a trip to BJ’s to select one of the three Cake Boss cakes. I told James that the “Da Bomb” was a chocolate layer cake with caramel icing between layers (and on top). Enough said. It was Da Bomb for him! I was impressed at how great the cake looked.

Our family has five birthdays that we celebrate in September and that means lots of parties! For this particular party, we gathered at my Mom’s house and celebrated James birthday and my sister-in-law Chin’s birthday.

We are all chocolate cake lovers. My Mom has a secret family recipe for a chocolate cake that we all can’t get enough of.  It’s typically the birthday cake that we indulge in at birthday parties.  So this cake had some tough competition going in.

It turns out, we all thought the cake tasted great. It serves 10 people easily – the perfect size for our gathering. The cake layers were very moist and delicious. The caramel frosting was a sweet change. (We typically don’t pair caramel with a chocolate cake.) The cake also had a divine chocolate frosting, with plenty of decorative pieces of chocolate on top and at the base. This cake is not your average store-bought cake, it’s truly a delight for the chocolate cake lover.

My mom, who is the toughest critic, was impressed. I heard her mention that she would pick this particular cake up for a future get-together. Her secret chocolate cake recipe won’t be retired, but we may start to see less and less of it now!

As you can see below, Da Bomb was “da bomb” and it went fast!

James will now doubt be indulging in one of the last pieces when he gets home from school.

Hurry! These cakes are all currently $15.99 with a $4 BJ’s coupon through October 3 (regularly $19.99). That’s only two more days as of this post! The coupons are available at the front of the store. This offer ends on 10/3/2012.

I am currently giving away a $20 BJ’s gift card for one Moms Own Words reader to try one of the Cake Boss cakes for yourself.

I received a $20 gift card to BJ’s to purchase a Cake Boss Cake for this review. My comments and opinions are 100% my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commissions 16 CFR, Part 255 Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.
