How to Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular Photos

Last Wednesday, we went to see the live performance of How to Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA. In addition to our family, Grant’s mom Gerene, sister Gisele and daughter Marie joined us for the show. Gisele took this photo.

To watch these huge fire breathing dragons that were operated via animatronics was amazing. I read that some dragons were operated by 3 or 4 people. This was the biggest dragon. It was so huge, it only came onto the stage this far. (See the stage door opening?)

If you aren’t familiar with the story, it’s about a boy, Hiccup, who wants to be a dragon slayer like his Dad. His character evolves and he becomes a clever dragon trainer.  Instead of killing a dragon, he ends up training the dragon he calls “Toothless” and in the process, teaches others how to train dragons.  He and several characters actually rode the dragons as they “flew” above the stage below. Here he is with the girl he has a crush on, Astrid, who is a dragon warrior turned trainer.

Having never seen ANYTHING like this, we thought it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! When the show was over the boys were talking about how cool it would be to have a pet dragon.

Sitting in front of us, closer to the stage, there were about three Worcester Fire Fighters monitoring the show. As if it weren’t exciting enough to watch these dragons in motion, huge balls of fire were shot up into the air periodically, at about four locations around the perimeter of the stage. We were so close to them we could feel the intense heat! I am happy to report that these bursts of fire remained under control!

What a great show! Here a few more pictures.

Many thanks to Amy for the tickets to the show. Disclosure – I received free tickets to How to Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular. Opinions expressed are my own.

Great show, huh? You got some great pics. Sorry I missed you that night, but there were a lot of bloggers there that I didn’t get a chance to see. Actually, Niri is the only one I ran into.

Holy CRAP! Those things are monstrous. It’s amazing how they’re able to use them in the show. Sounds like a really entertaining one to see!
