I am really enjoying this weight loss book and cookbook because I’ve already adopted a similar lifestyle with my existing diet. The author’s meal plans and recipes include fresh fruits and vegetables, low-fat dairy products, whole grains, low-fat protein sources, olive oil and even an occasional glass of wine.
Slimmer’s three-cycle and richly varied meal plan doesn’t restrict carbs, sugars or fats. My days of restricting carbs are over. Those low carb diets never worked for me. In fact, with recipes that I’ve posted, like low-carb scones to Paleo Pumpkin muffins to Turkey, Bean and Vegetable Chili, you could say my diet has evolved right in front of your eyes.
This diet plan does not enforce calorie counting. I am a little leery to stop counting my PointsPlus (I’ve lost nearly 20 lbs.) I find that I need that structure and accountability or else I tend to overeat. I would have liked it if the recipes included the nutritional breakdown, including calories.
The book has about 80 healthy recipes like Summer Vegetable Risotto with Chicken, Summer Pasta Alfredo, and Mediterranean Chickpea Salad that I look forward to trying. These recipes have easy-to-find, lighter ingredients and sound flavorful and delicious.
Most impressive to me is the author’s 110 pound weight loss and maintenance with his tailored fat burning Mediterranean Diet. In the book he also focuses on simple lifestyle and lifelong healthy habits. This makes perfect sense as the key to weight loss and maintenance is a lifestyle change.

I’ve been on the “Slimmer Plan” now for about 3 weeks. I’ve lost 6 pounds (with 6 more to go) and my husband has lost 10 (he wants to lose a few more as well). It’s a terrific program and at heart, the Slimmer plan is a program of eating healthy for life. I think it would be great no matter how much weight you have to lose. (The author’s story is very inspiring. He personally went from 280 pounds on this plan to 170 and looks great – pictures of him are on the book’s web site). This has been a top-selling book in Greece and Europe over the last several years and I see why. I highly recommend it.
