The International Olive Council’s Add Some Life strives to inspire us about the taste, versatility, benefits and importance of making olives and olive oil staples in our daily life. They encourage the use of all types of olives and olive oil to help us be inspired to build a better salad and see how these products can add life through flavor and health benefits. Add Some Life suggests a few salad recipes to spark our imagination. Here are some of their suggested recipes:

Here is one of my salad recipes for Broccoli Slaw that includes heart-healthy olive oil.
Recipe: Broccoli Slaw
Ingredients
- 1 pkg. of Broccoli Slaw (like Mann’s)
- 2 pkgs. of Ramen Noodle Soup (Chicken Flavor) broken into pieces (save seasoning packets for dressing)
- 1 bunch chopped green onions (scallions)
- 1 cup slivered almonds
- 1 cup sunflower seeds
- Dressing:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup light olive oil
- 1/3 cup cider vinegar
- Seasoning packets from noodles
Instructions
- Mix the first 5 ingredients in a large bowl.
- Mix the dressing ingredients and add to slaw: toss.
- Marinate at least 1 hour.
Variations
I like a little less sugar and use 1/4 cup.

Actually I use olive oil in place of butter quite a bit. My favorite way is drizzled over steamed broccoli along with a little salt & garlic powder. Yummy!
A light drizzle over tomatoes, basil & fresh mozzarella in a caprese salad on a warm summer day is my favorite!

Every recipe! I put olive oil in almost everything. I just purchased some Herbes de Provence olive oil that I drizzle over chicken and beef. It’s great on my vegan dishes too. I haven’t tried making it yet, but poaching fish in olive oil looks wonderful. I just really like to put it everywhere!

We call it That Tortellini Thing–Olive Oil, garlic, onions, tons of veggies (broccoli, cauliflower–whatever you have) dash of red pepper. Toss tortellini and add lots of Parmesan.
I mix oil oil and balsamic and dip bread in it YUM!
Or put tomato and mozz cheese on the bread and drizzle the oil and balsamic on it

I love this recipe. But Olive oil, vinegar, and Italian seasonings in a bag, put some chicken breast in the bag. Marinate for a few hours or overnight, depending on how intense of a flavor you want. Before completely cooked, throw some spinach and sun dried tomatoes on top of breast and mozzarella till melted.

We make steamed green beans with a garlic pesto made with olive oil.
This a must-have staple in our home:
Olive oil intensely infused with ROASTED GARLIC (or roasted together) and then used with just about any/everything.
I usually have in the fridge: straight Roasted Garlic Olive Oil and also separate/individual bottles of the basic oil infused with rosemary, basil, chile peppers, lemon and also to make Shrimp Scampi, Garlic Chicken, potatoes, stir-fried veggies, salad dressings, marinades…
Like I said, it is a must-have staple in my kitchen!
