Glad Black Bag Review and Recycled Art Auction

Glad Black Bag is encouraging moms to celebrate life’s wild moments. Life can get wild and messes happen when we’re having fun! Cleaning up these messes needn’t be so bad with the Glad Black bag.

I can attest to the fact that messes do happen around here, a lot. So, putting the Glad Black Bags to the test comes naturally for us.

 Glad Black Bag Review

The Glad® ForceFlex large trash bags are 30 gallon size and are labeled “tear resistant.” I used these Glad Black bags to store my sons’ bedding up in our attic and for everyday trash.

I am also using these bags to collect recyclable materials in our upstairs recycle bin. I take the full bags down to the garage, put the recyclables in bins and then I recycle the trash bag by using it again. Recycling bottles, cans, paper and cardboard,  really stretches out the bags. So far, they have been tear resistant and really seem to be able to handle our abuse!

Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup

Glad Black Bag is partnering with Keep American Beautiful (KAB) on a Great American Cleanup event. The Picker Sisters – best friends and interior designers Tracy Hutson and Tanya McQueen are also teaming up with Glad Black Bag and (KAB) to celebrate and cleanup life’s wild moments and then find incredible and smart ways to reuse the trash. Be sure to check out this great article Tips and Tricks for Pickin’ by the Picker Sisters!

The Picker Sisters have built their business on the belief that one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. Along the way, they discovered that some of the best finds are the “remnants” of life’s wild moments. Things that are created for or broken in our biggest celebrations can be repurposed in new ways that honor the memory, but create great style.

Glad Black Bag is showing the beauty and benefits of turning trash into treasures by utilizing the Picker Sister’s expertise and partnering with celebrated mosaic artist Jason Mecier!

Glad Black Bag Art Auction

Mosaic artist Jason Mercier has created four works of art utilizing people’s trash or “wild life remnants,” including items collected during Great American Clean-ups from across the country, as well as items donated by celebrities such as Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Raphael Sbarge (Once Upon A Time) and Nathan Kress (iCarly).

These works of art will be auctioned off during the Glad® Black Bag art auction on eBay for consumers to bid on, from April 16 through April 26, with proceeds benefiting KAB’s Great America Cleanup. Even if you don’t bid, these four auctions will certainly be fun to watch!

Here is my favorite Jason Mecier Mosaic – Wild Life Bear! ( Bidding is only at 150.00 as of right now, 6:15 am EST 4/19.)

These stars and more have donated their would be trash which has been turned into mosaic artwork:

  • Chelsie Hightower
  • Raphael Sbarg
  • Lauren Conrad
  • Amy Smart
  • Kathryn Budig
  • Allie Gonino
  • Cody Horn
  • Constance Zimmer
  • Emanuelle Chriqui
  • Carter Oosterhouse
  • Ed Begley, Jr.

Mosaic Size: 26″ X 34″

This is such a clever idea to turn trash to treasure. 100% of the sale price will benefit Keep America Beautiful, Glad’s longstanding cause partner of 27 years whose mission is to engage individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community environments.

What a conversation piece this artwork will be. The winner and proud owner might say something like, “Hey, that’s Cody Horn’s old pair of scissors and Ed Begley Jr.’s belt!” How cool is that?

Good idea for comforter storage! I just rounded up a ton of bubble wrap in my house and filled an entire one of these bags.

I love those black bags – they’re strong enough to throw up into the attic without ripping & they compress the comforters inside.

I also use plenty of Glad Bags and I also store my comforters for the winter in them, I think it is a great idea! I don’t know what I would do without those bags. But this is a fantastic idea about the celebrities donating their trash for artwork! My daughter is an artist and she would love to work on art like that!
