Toddler Tantrum Gets Family Kicked off JetBlue Flight Today Show Video
A family was kicked off of a JetBlue flight, because their two-year-old had a tantrum that lasted about 3-½ minute. During that time, she would not sit buckled in her seat. Once her Mom was able to finally get her daughter buckled in and simmered down, the pilot had already made the decision to turn around and boot this family off of the plane.
JetBlue later explained in a statement that “The customer(s) did not comply with FAA Regulations” and it was for the safety of all passengers that this toddler and family be removed from the plane.
I agree with JetBlue for a few reasons.
Rules are rules, whether you are 2 or 92. When it comes to airport security and security while in flight, I would rather be inconvenienced by having to take off my shoes, to shut off my cell phone, to buckle and remain seated, if it means the best possible security for me, my family, my fellow passengers and flight crew.
We didn’t fly with our kids until they were 7 and 10. Now that they’ve flown and they’ve shown us how well they can behave on a flight, it opens up new possibilities for future trips.
I was a nervous wreck when I flew for the first time in 14 years last month, a child “throwing the tantrum of her life” in mid air would have only added to my anxiety.
I do have compassion for that little girl’s parents; My youngest has thrown some pretty nasty fits. I would have felt terrible about being kicked off a plane.
I would have never flown for a vacation with my two boys if they were that young.
Would a family-friendly airline just for families with young kids be a solution?
According to the Today Show poll, 71% of people agree with JetBlue for kicking that family off of the plane.
Do you think JetBlue was right to kick that family off of the plane?
Here is the video clip in case you missed it! Be sure to watch the kids during the interview – there is not much parenting going on.
