Wordless Wednesday Blackbeard the Pirate Puppet #WW

Blackbeard pirate puppetJames is doing a book report at school this week. He loves pirates, so naturally he chose a biography about Blackbeard the Pirate. The class made puppets and will be presenting oral reports based on their book. The oral report will be presented with the help of the puppet.

His pirate puppet might start his off by saying “Arrrgggggggg! I was born in Bristol, England in 1680.”

This puppet was handmade with the help of his Memere (my mother in law Gerene) who is just the best mother in law. Between you and me, I say “help” but I do believe she did most of the work. (James was not feeling well on the day they made this. )

The black outfit and face are machine stitched and the eyes, nose, fleece beard and hat (gingham colored w/ black marker) are all attached using a glue gun.

James is going to add a sword and maybe some ribbons on his beard. Blackbeard got his nickname by tying up the ends of his long and bushy black beard with ribbon and curling them back over his ears. (Who knew he had a fashion sense??!!)
